religion

Religion-
1.)Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe.
2.)A personal or institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship.
3.)The life or condition of a person in a religious order.
4.)A set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader.

4 basic definitions of religion.

Religion is EVERY WHERE in the world. You can not escape it. Religion is probably a subject that everyone has some sort of opinion on, whether it be their personal beliefs, or their disagreement with someone else. I am not a certain religion. I do believe in god, and what not, but i dont look at myself as a "christian". The bible confuses me in many ways. How ever i am not getting into the subject of the bible right now. I am getting into the subject of Judgement due to religious beliefs. I know alot of people. Not all of them are christian, some are, and some are major hardcore christian. Religion comes in many many differnet forms and practices. Hinduism, Buddism, Wicca, Christianity. Alot of the american popultaion has become "Atheist" which means they do not claim a religion. Some beliefs of religions i find absolutely insane. I personally believe the reason so many teenagers have dont have a religion is because so many people are trying to shove their beliefs down others throats, which causes the person to become extremely annoyed. That is one reason why i dont have a religion. I got so tired of people trying to shove what the believe down my throat. I believe in a higher power, and everything. so many questions, and no real answers. no way of giving a honest anwser though..

So my question is.

What is your religion, and beliefs?

  1. I'm am Catholic. It's possibly one of the most boring religions on the face of the planet. I don't actually have a lot of the same beliefs as most of the people at church though. My church believes homosexuality is a sin, and I hate that. All it is is just narrow-mindedness. I went to my friend's church one week and her sunday school teacher, josh, and I got into an argument about it. I believe that God made everyone just the way they were supposed to be. That includes homosexuals. Josh was trying to tell me about this girl he knew who was a lesbian and he "gave her the word of God" and she supposedly went back to being straight. I told him that she was probably just experimenting with her sexuality and that is perfectly normal and okay. People do that all the time and I do not consider it a sin. And he sat there for 20 minutes trying to shove all his beliefs down my throat and trying to "save" me. and i did not appreciate it at all. I totally went off at him and told him that i'll listen to what he has to say, but i will NOT tolerate him trying to force his beliefs on me because that is not right. yes, i believe it's fine to give people the word of God, because that's what He wants us to do. but He doesn't want us to force it on people. God made everyone just the way he wanted to, whether they're straight, bisexual, homosexual, black, white, african, asian, european, australian, mexican, cuban, anything. Everyone was born just how they were supposed to. I tried to explain this to him, but now i guess he believes that i'm a vile sinner and now i guess i'm going to Hell(according to him). oh well, some people are just crazy i guess

  2. Like I announced yesterday in our activity during class, I am not religious in any way. I believe in nothing to do with God and the bible, I believe we make our own decisions. Yesterday during class I got into a heated discussion with some of the other girls about religion, I stated that I disagreed with one student and believed in none of what she said. This led to me talking about what I believed in...free will. Ms. Love then asked me that if I knew I was going to die in a car accident the next day would I get into the car, and I responded by saying yes, that if I infact was supposed to happen I would get into the car. Everyone has to die at some point in their life, don't they? A student told me I contradicted my saying of free will, now with destiny. To tell you the honest truth, I believe that you can believe in free will, destiny, fate, and anything else WITHOUT relating it back to God. But that is just my opinion

  4. I am a Christian and proud to be one. But I hate how we are protrayed as judgemetal people with crosses and bibles coming to damn all the heathens to hell. I try my best to not past judgement on anyone but were all human. I am open-minded and I would never ever press my religion or belief on anyone who doesn't want to here about it cause it's just not what me or christians are suppose to be about.

  6. I came across your blog and was really intrigued due to the honesty and openness of everyone’s answers to the previous question. The question proposed was “What is your religion, and beliefs?”
At this time I would like to openly answer the question that was asked but please know that if our beliefs differ I am not being judgmental or pushing my personal beliefs on you. I am just merely responding your post and the question that was asked.

First of all, I am Christian and have been since I was eight years old and because of this my beliefs are shaped by Christian principles and truths found in scripture.

Honestly, I believe Christianity is vastly misunderstood. Most people feel that it’s about following a bunch of rules and regulations and that is not what it’s about. Christianity is about Jesus Christ loving his people and wanting what’s best for them. Christ loved his people so much that he died for each and every one of us so that we didn’t have to pay the price. He paid that price for us.
The price he paid for us is what grants us salvation. One of the major themes of Christianity that differs from many other religions is Christ’s love for his people. We can study many different worldly religions and wouldn’t be able to find another religion except for Christianity that the God of that religion is focused on having a personal relationship with his people! Ultimately, God saved us from our self.

You can see in Christianity that Jesus Christ was born for a purpose and that purpose was to bare the sins of his people so that when we die we don’t have to spend eternity in hell but spend it with him in Heaven. Another aspect that I find to be powerful about Christianity is that there is historical and archaeological proof in the existence of Jesus Christ and his teachings which were prophesied in the Bible. If I were one that doubted what Jesus did and what Jesus taught that would be plenty of evidence to help me overcome my doubt.

Christ loved his people so much that he died for each and every one of us so that we didn’t have to pay the price. He paid that price for us. Jesus desires to have a relationship with us and that is why he died for us. Now, we are commanded to follow his word and truths found in scripture. No, its not about following a set of rules or guidelines, it is living a life that is pleasing to him.

I was blessed to have a great set of parents that I have to say I don’t want to admit this but for the majority of the time they knew what was best for me. They knew the things I should be a part of and the things I should shy away from. Just like my parents, Jesus is the same because he knows what’s best for us and how things should be and how things should go. However, what is sad is that most students and adults don’t want people to tell them what to believe what to feel and how to live. And to some degree I can understand that but once you really understand what Christ did for you and I, that will serve as the motivation to live a life that he calls us to live. So please understand its not about laws or regulations it’s about the one true God wanting to have a relationship with you to help you live a life that is pleasing to him.

The following are simple beliefs that are found in scriputure that I am called to live upon:

    1. I believe in absolute truth. In other words I believe that we can see in scripture what is right and wrong and to what is truth and what’s false. Its truth that is eternal and cannot be bent or changed
    2. I believe in the whole bible. I also believe that God gave us his word to help us and guide us through our daily life. I believe that it's infallible, inherent and it’s without error.
    3. I believe that God sent his son Jesus to die on the cross for each and everyone one of us so that we wouldn’t have to spend eternity in hell but grant us salvation on accepting him has our personal savior.
    4. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins.
    5. I believe that Jesus gives us grace and mercy. It can be described this way Mercy is God withholding the punishment we rightfully deserve. Grace is God not only withholding that punishment but offering the most precious gifts instead. Another way to explain this is putting your own self in the meanings of the words: I, Wade Smith, is a sinner and deserved hell but God granted me mercy because he withheld the punishment of hell that I and everyone rightly deserved but not only did he grant me mercy he extended me grace which is not only withhold the punishment myself and everyone else deserve he granted me and everyone else the most precious gift instead which is having the ability to accept Christ as your savior and to spend eternity in heaven.

Those are a few of my personal beliefs and I hope that I just wanted to share with you my faith and you all have done as well. Thanks again for your honesty and your openness and the chance to discuss our beliefs. If you have any questions feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer.

    Thanks,

    Wade
